Digital SAT Score Conversion Chart 2026

The Digital SAT does not publish a single official conversion table. Scores are computed with Item Response Theory and adaptive module routing, so the same number of correct answers can produce different scaled scores depending on question difficulty and test form. The tables below show broad estimated ranges based on publicly available scoring patterns to help students plan.

Important: The Digital SAT uses Item Response Theory (IRT) adaptive scoring. There is no single "official conversion table" that applies to all test forms. The ranges below are estimates based on publicly available scoring methodology and may vary depending on module difficulty, test form, and operational vs. pretest questions.

How Digital SAT Scoring Works

Unlike the paper-based SAT which used fixed conversion tables, the Digital SAT employs Item Response Theory (IRT) and a multistage adaptive testing (MST) design. This means:

  • Adaptive modules: Your performance on the first module determines the difficulty of the second module.
  • Question weighting: Harder questions contribute more to your score than easier ones.
  • Test form variation: Different test forms have different scoring curves based on question difficulty.
  • Pretest questions: Some questions are unscored and used for future test development.

As a result, two students who answer the same number of questions correctly may receive different scaled scores depending on which questions they answered correctly and the difficulty of their second module.

Calculation Example

Scenario: A student answers 35 Math questions correctly and 40 Reading & Writing questions correctly.

  • Math: 35 correct → approximately 670-720 (depending on question difficulty and module path)
  • Reading & Writing: 40 correct → approximately 730-780 (depending on question difficulty and module path)
  • Estimated Total: approximately 1400-1500

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there an official Digital SAT conversion chart?

No. College Board does not publish a fixed raw-to-scaled conversion table for the Digital SAT. The test uses Item Response Theory (IRT) and adaptive module routing, which means scores are computed based on the specific questions you answered and their difficulty, not a universal conversion formula. The tables on this page are estimates derived from publicly available scoring patterns.

How many questions can you miss for a 700 Math score?

Based on the estimates above, a 700 Math score typically requires around 35 correct answers out of 44. However, because the Digital SAT adapts based on your first module performance, a student who qualifies for the harder second module may achieve a 700 with a slightly different raw count than a student on the easier path. Use the Math calculator for a personalized estimate.

Does the Digital SAT curve change?

The Digital SAT does not use a traditional "curve" where scores are adjusted based on how other students perform on a given test date. Instead, each test form is pre-calibrated with specific question difficulty parameters. This means different test forms have different scoring characteristics, but your score is based on your own performance relative to the questions you received, not the performance of other test-takers.

Why are score tables estimates?

Score tables are estimates because College Board does not release the exact IRT parameters, operational scoring algorithms, or module routing cutoffs. The Digital SAT also includes unscored pretest questions embedded within each module, which means not every question you answer contributes to your final score. These factors make it impossible to produce a definitive conversion table. For more details, see our methodology page.

Limitations & Disclaimers

1. Not an official College Board tool: This calculator is an independent educational resource and is not affiliated with or endorsed by College Board.

2. Estimates only: The ranges above are approximations based on publicly available information. College Board does not publish fixed conversion tables for the Digital SAT. See the full methodology and limitations.

3. Adaptive scoring complexity: Your actual score depends on which specific questions you answered correctly, not just the total number correct. A student who answers difficult questions correctly may score higher than a student with the same total correct but who missed the harder questions.

4. Test form differences: Different test administrations use different question sets with varying difficulty curves, so the same raw performance can yield different scaled scores across test dates.
